The main goal of Calvary Wesleyan Church is to reach
out and meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the members
of our church, and those in our area who are still in need. We strive to
follow the principles of the Bible in meeting those needs.
This goal will not be fulfilled until every man, woman,
and child has come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their
Savior and Lord.
Looking forward to continued growth, the church took a
step of faith in 1996 and decided to purchase a ten acre tract of land
just outside of Millersburg, off Route 25 (The Berrysburg Road), on Miller
Road. The settlement occurred in January 1997, a day after the 65th anniversary
of the chartering of the church.
Now that the land is paid for, the church is now seriously
looking at building a new facility. There will be a new sanctuary, education
rooms, and fellowship hall. This will give the church room for adequate
parking as the congregation continues to grow. Also, there is plenty of
room for a picnic area to be used for church and individual functions.
The first official event on the new property was on Saturday,
March 29. It was an Easter Egg hunt for the children. What better place
to find eggs than in a field!
At the present, there is wheat growing on part of the
land. What a great reminder of Jesus' words about the fields being white
unto harvest. What a challenge for the church to meet their ultimate goal
of ministering to the needs of others.
We have planted grass on one section of the land where
we have occasional services and fellowship times. In 2000 we
built a 60' x 40' pavilion on the sight and have had many wonderful summer
evening fellowships and picnics.
With the plans for a new sanctuary under consideration we look to God for His guidance as we step out in faith.
October 28, 2007, our 75th anniversary, was a
great day of celebration. We broke ground for our new facility!
(l-r) Dr.
Harry Wood, D.S., Rev. Donald Geyer, Rev. Robert Simpkins, Jr., Rev. Shannon
D'Agostino and Mrs. Miriam Harper (charter member) participated in the ground
breaking ceremony. We look forward in anticipation as we prepare our
hearts and the land for worshipping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The new church on Miller Road, Millersburg, is
completed. We had our exit service at 294 Moore St., September 6 and had a
caravan out to the new facility and ended the morning service with prayer and
praise. We are thanking God, for such a time as this, to have set a vision
before us and enable us to begin this new work in our area. Our hearts and
our arms are open to the community to discover our Redeemer Jesus Christ and
worship with us. |
